What is an emotional purge?

An emotional purge is another word for Emotional healing, Inner child healing, Emotional cleansing, Emotional detox, or Emotional detoxing.

You would typically choose to go through an emotional purge when you are at a crossroads in your life. Or when you are manifesting something or someone, and you feel stuck.

Bottom line, you know that something needs to change, and you have tried it all. You have tried affirming non-stop, scripting, you name it. Now, you know you cannot stay the same version of yourself with the same thoughts, the same feelings. Indeed, you realise that you get triggered at the same things, and you want this to change. Yes, you want a whole aspect of your reality to change, for that matter!

Sometimes you go through an emotional purge without realising it. This is not the most pleasant experience if you are not even conscious this is what is happening to you! Truth be told, even when you purposefully do a purge, it is not pleasant at all, so imagine when you don’t know you are doing it!

 

Is an emotional purge necessary to manifest?

Well, you might not even have a say in the matter! When your body has an overload of negative feelings, it will alert you by becoming feverish, and so forth. This is its way to say: too much is too much, please heal me now.

See, if you are manifesting something you care about, and if you have limiting beliefs associated with that manifestation, your heart will not be validating what your conscious thoughts say. That’s when affirmations cannot work because the heart is not on board. Manifesting is not an intellectual exercice. Manifesting requires two components: clarity of your thoughts and validation of your heart. 

If you leave one out, you can experience a partial manifestation at best. Or experience a delay in your manifestation. Either way, you may end up feeling frustrating and with the false illusion that manifesting doesn’t work. But manifesting does work. It just follows a certain quality check, that’s all.

So, you will have understand that an emotional purge will not be necessary if you have supportive beliefs on your manifestations. But if you really want it, if you are committed to experiencing it, and you know you can’t manifest it with your current beliefs, well…

Emotional purge: its benefits

However, even though a purge is an intense process that requires patience and resilience, it is also very beneficial. Indeed, an emotional purge will help you manifest from a place of power. No more trying, no more using force.

This is because, after you have detoxified your body and emotions, you will have stabilised. Obviously, this is the perfect place to be when you are consciously choosing better life experiences in your reality.

Also, you should feel lighter, with even a better posture! This is because it was as if you had been carrying a heavy suitcase (or baggage) until then. And that heavy baggage contained all your trapped overwhelming emotions. I call it the baggage of emotions and my saying is: the baggage of emotions that you carry around like the plague.

However, as you get rid of it, you will see that you have shifted within. It is hard to describe with words because it is a felt experience. You won’t even perceive your environment, your circumstances, the same way. And you will feel more detached from what you want to experience, as if you could select and drop your desire. Yes, you will have understood that it is indeed the perfect place to be in, where you suffer from no attachment to the object of your desire. There is no neediness, no lack anymore.

Inner shifting is shifting your inner state. It is becoming the version of yourself that can manifest effortlessly.

 

So, why haven’t you shifted yet?

Therefore, if there are so many benefits to perform an emotional purge, why haven’t you done it yet?

The truth is that, if you are a control freak like I used to be, this was your natural response to chaos.

Suppressing your emotions could have been your unconscious way to cope with what you were facing without hitting rock bottom. Indeed, it is either your brain as a child couldn’t comprehend what was going on, and so trauma was stored until you were at an age when you could deal with it. Or it is because, as an adult, your primary brain, which main function is to prevent you from pain and danger, archived potential unpleasant situations instead of you dealing with them. In other words, you may have avoided dealing with certain situations and the response that you chose back then, between the possibilities of fight, freeze, fly, was fly.

Another reason that is common to the manifestors I talk to is the fact that it could take some time. I won’t lie to you, breaking your toxic patterns is not a stroll in the park. It rarely happens in a couple of hours. In most cases, it takes a few days, but in all honesty, you may have up and down moments for a few weeks. This is not uncommon.

Having said that, if you have been trying to manifest for a while, wouldn’t it make sense to complete that investment in yourself with the purge? Look at it this way, it is as if you were nearly at the top of the hill, and all you have to do is an emotional purge to finally get to the other side. Where life gets easier. Where your toxic patterns are no more.

 

5 signs you are going through an emotional purge

Or shifting from an old version of yourself to a new version of yourself where you can manifest whatever you want to experience.

When you are shifting and really engage in this exercise, I know myself that I started to have those symptoms:

Mood swings

I had mood swings and I felt even more sensitive than usual. This is because before being stable in your inner being, things need to resurface, be dealt with in order to calm down to a new natural state of being.

Crying

I was crying quite a lot, sometimes shaking while I was crying. It happened that I would also cry for no reason. That was a good thing I was already self-employed when that happened because it would have been more delicate at work, I guess. Crying is one of the emotion’s way to express itself. Please see below how to purge in practical terms:

 

Flashbacks

I had flashbacks of what I had suppressed that was coming up to be dealt with, and so it felt that I was more triggered than usual all at the same time. It felt bad, to be honest. This is why it is extra important to be patient and kind to yourself while you shift because you don’t want to reach that point and get back to the crap you want to move away from.

Frustration

I was very frustrated because all I was experiencing was the crap and for a while, I just hoped I wouldn’t be stuck in that bodily and mental unpleasant experience. In fairness, I had the feeling of going through intense work while my reality seemed to remain the same. So, at first, I wondered what good it would actually bring me because I didn’t want to go through this for no reason. But it is temporary, like for all the other signs.

Pains

I felt pains and aches in my body, especially around my muscles. The reason being that when your emotions are trapped inside your body, they are trapped in the brain but also in the body. They are stored there, so when you are cleansing your emotions, all the stress, all the pain gets released and gets expressed through pains and aches. Those are also temporary of course.

 

Manifest quicker by upgrading your self-concept

Can you see why an emotional purge is related to your self-concept? Within your self-concept, there is self-esteem, being resourceful, being self-reliant, being self-confident, seeing the big picture instead of focusing on a problem. It is also the way you lead with your mental activity, your emotional states and your inspired actions. Self-concept is the basis from which your manifestation will unfold in a positive way or in a negative way.

You can manifest with a poor self-concept, but are you sure you can keep your manifestations long-term? I am not so sure. Been there, tried it, didn’t work long term. Pure and simple. Every single time.
