How does Tarot work?
I wasn’t born a Tarot card reader nor a Numerologist. Like everybody else, I had to learn the basics before exploring Tarot and draw my own conclusions.
So, as strange as it might seem, I was attending workshops, I was reading hundreds of books on the topic, but I wasn’t entirely sure if it was making sense to practice on others, just in case I wasn’t going to pick the right card for them or they wouldn’t. And all of this because I couldn’t explain to myself how come I was able to pick the cards I needed at that very time, every time.
And then, one day, I got it.
It was there all along and yet, it took a conscious effort on my side to comprehend why my life was what it was, despite the glamorous messages I had been given. Nobody had explained this to me.
In fact, I was constantly told I would meet a wonderful man and all the rest. Great. Except that the man wasn’t showing up. What? Are you saying Tarot had it all wrong? Oh no, wait, worse than that, the Tarot card reader wasn’t able to interpret the cards correctly?
In order to make sense of it all and how Tarot truly helps, we’ll see:
- What does energy have to do with Tarot
- Why does it matter to know the relationship between energy and Tarot
- How to include Tarot in your life
When you grasp the basics of Tarot, you will be able to use it in your daily life and not restrict yourself to a simple reading!
What does energy have to do with Tarot?
Everything is energy, everything is vibration.
Because you see, Tarot is also all about energy. Everything is about energy and vibration. Why would it be different for Tarot?
Tarot cards pick up energy and hold energy. I believe that energy is drawn to the cards through intention. Otherwise, why the necessity to ask questions a certain way, to shuffle the cards and all the rest if it wasn’t for the cards to have time to adequately match the vibration of the enquirer and provide the most relevant answer to the question asked, based on the current energies.
I designed a few spreads and checked the messages. My client asked one question and off I went shuffling my cards and interpreting the spread. I had the same result. How fascinating, but how predictable, when you know how this all works, right?
After a lot of practice on me, on my family, and on my friends, I took a leap of faith and started to read for people I didn’t know, just to make sure that I was on the right path with my perception. And of course, it worked. That gave me confidence that I was able to deliver proper messages that would actually help people. Because if not, what is the point of reading cards? But they do help, they do guide and I love them, the good, the bad, and the ugly, they all have a purpose, they all have a hidden message to help us when we are lost and they have been of some comfort in my darkest hours.
How can I make sure I pick up on your energy and not mine?
Most of my readings are email readings. I think you can appreciate the importance of understanding how energy works as a reader; otherwise, I would be doubting or double guessing every single one of my guidance.
I meditate before any reading to remain neutral; I have a little ritual where I “clean” my cards from previous readings and I set intentions for the reading to come.
My objective is to be relaxed and mentally remove any type of intense energy as I connect with you through your date of birth and first name. I always ensure that my own energy is positive and healthily charged. And I need all this, because when you order a reading, you are usually feeling vulnerable or overwhelmed, and the cards pick up on that.
Dwelling on your current situation might be reassuring for a minute to show you that the cards are on the right track, but the objective of a reading is to display options to you and uplift your spirits. I mean, you live your situation, you don’t need anybody to confirm what you are going through!
The energy I get from you has built up over a certain amount of time and is rarely a state of mind that has suddenly emerged out of nowhere, except if it is a situation you were not expecting and has caused turmoil and has turned your energy upside down.
What I am trying to say is that the energy of the cards is strongly based on how you feel right now. And how you feel right now is the result of what you usually feel. And on both occasions, you want reassurance and hope.
Why does it matter to understand the relationship between energy and Tarot?
How about Free Will?
I have my free will and so do you, always, but knowing that cards can offer some guidance or clearly show the different alternatives we all have during our lifetime is quite amazing, wouldn’t you agree?
It is my belief that Tarot cards (or playing cards, or Oracle cards for that matter) pick up the energy of the person I read for as I shuffle the cards and as I intend to get a clear answer on their questions.
The energy I am talking about is simply your state of mind when you do ask for a reading. By state of mind, I am referring to the predominant thoughts you hold on the enquiry. The most predominant beliefs and feelings on the topics you have selected are then displayed through the cards and the reader is going to deliver their message.
But those are only messages that we readers convey so that you can make a sound decision based on the possibilities that lie ahead. I think it is important to understand this. Cards are not messages that are set in stone. They guide based on the vibration you hold on a particular situation or person and give hope that there is more than one path to be considered.
But at the end of the day, you are the one who makes the decision and you alone have the final say.
Hang on a minute, how many paths are there?
Energy and its possibilities
You see, quantum physics revealed that we do live in a 3D reality whereas in fact, we can choose quite another if we shift our focus. I am not a physicist, so I won’t even try to give you an explanation, but as far as I have understood, several realities do exist and our vibration (our thoughts, our beliefs, our feelings) dictate the reality we choose for ourselves.
Sometimes, we create a reality we disagree with, and it is because we were not in alignment between our desires and our beliefs and feelings. Hence the messy result.
This is how I think Tarot can be really useful because by displaying the most probable outcome of a given situation based on your current vibration, you can exercise your free will and decide for yourself if you are happy enough with your (unconsciously) chosen path, or if you’d better make a conscious effort to shift your focus and take another path.
I believe that understanding this is critical if you want to live your life on purpose and not let life happen to you. Because it doesn’t have to be that way.
How to include Tarot in your life?
Understand the temporality of a reading
Everything I tell you has a time stamp on it. Everything. Your situation is temporary. The same way that energy is as temporary as you wish.
Now, the cards are going to project exactly what your energy emits.
But now, imagine someone who has suffered a loss or is living a very difficult situation; if I had to strictly follow what the cards say instead of “reading” the energy within them, well, based on the logic that a state of mind is the conditioning of old programming associated with our environment, I would only be talking “obstacles” and “hopes”.
But I understand how energy works; I know that energy is our state of mind, our beliefs and emotions. That state of mind has a certain point of attraction. A positive person is naturally going to draw optimistic types of cards. Someone less positive is going to draw less optimistic types of cards and more “practical” and what I call “realistic” types of cards.
But a reading is not a magic wand. I wish it was, but it’s not. The reading is going to give you ONE possibility of your future, but YOU are the one deciding if this is the path you want to follow or not.
Jim Rohn mentioned: “If you don’t like how things are, change it! You are not a tree.”
Tarot is going to show you what the best possibility can be, based on your current state of mind. The slightest positive opportunity is going to reveal itself to you. This should give you hope and reassurance. But if you keep on thinking about your situation and start doubting that the reading can actually come to pass, you will remain in the same state of mind that has allowed your current reality to settle.
Tarot reveals your state of mind
And THAT, is incredible.
But it doesn’t come without shifting that very state of mind I was telling you about. Otherwise, it would be sufficient for anybody to request a reading, me shuffling the cards, waving my magic wand and voila, job done, you get what you dreamed of. I wish, but no.
It gives you something very powerful: it gives you the opportunity to upgrade your state of mind. Because, let’s say you are deep down in problems, but the cards reveal the potential of betterment in your situation. Fantastic! But it implies that your new point of attraction needs to be more positive than negative.
You see, we attract, or better said, we merge with the reality we believe in. If you believe in negative outcomes, irrespective of what the reading is going to say, after a couple of days, your mental thermostat will get back to the negative self-talk and the positive possibility that the cards brought to life may well disappear.
If, however, you like the reading and it is in alignment with your wish, but you know that you need to change or shift your focus, the prediction will come to pass.
I’m not sure I have been very clear. Let’s try again.
You can manifest anything. You can.
If you do decide to align with the positive outcome, you will shift your focus to that very possibility. When that is the case, don’t let doubts creep in, this would throw you back to the mental state you were in. Instead, keep focusing on the potential reality that the cards have offered you.
Conclusion
Tarot is a wonderful tool that can give you both hope and reassurance as well as revealing what possibilities await you if you decide that you feel comfortable with them. The rest is in your capable hands.
A Tarot reading won’t show you your final destination, no way. It guides you, but that’s about it. Your mindset will do the same. Does it mean that your attitude needs to change? Not your actions, only the way you think and feel about your situation.
